About me

I came to New York over thirty eight years ago with trepidation and the idea of pursuing the American dream. Since then I've acquired higher education, American citizenship, great jobs, many accomplishments, a warm American family and great friends. The learning process continues and life passes by so quickly. I sure have to take more time to enjoy it. Everyday I wake up, I thank God for giving me another day to be here among my loved ones. I am so blessed to have my 83 year old mother. Life truly is a blessing.

I became interested in history, culture, and religion at an early age, as I tried to explain and defend my Jewish religion in a Muslim country. "We Ran from Iran" is my personal undertaking of more than four decades of my life in learning, researching, and preserving my family history. This book is based on many handwritten pages from my father and grandfather and my own research. I interviewed, listened to, and video-taped many of my loved ones who since then have passed away.

But, this blog isn’t all about me and my book. I want to know what is happening with YOU. Leave me comments and tell me what you are reading, writing, thinking, stumbling upon, or wanting to know about. Or whatever you would like to talk about! I am all ears!

  1. Hi, it seems we are both part of the WD community. It is great meeting you and I just wanted to say that I find your blog quite interesting. Yes I would be interested in reading what you have to write.

I too write non fiction: self empowerment, inspirational. I've created a FB fan page called Share Your Love Story where people can come together, be inspired, and share all that they are passionate about in life. Feel free to come by and like the page, leave a link to your blog, introduce yourself. I have a discussion section for that especially, it is a small way to help each other to spread the word about what you love in life.

If you have not done so already, I suggest you join Werner's group on WD how to promote your blog. We are all trying to help each other there as well. I wish you all the best with your writing. Never give up the dream. xo

    Warm Regards,
    Patty Sherry

  4. You obviously have one "gem" of a story here! Do whatever it takes to publish it Rachel. It's a story that needs to be told. If I can be of any help to you, please let me know!

  5. Hi,
your blog content is so interesting for me, i wish i could study the whole book. since i am a converted Jew and presently live in Iran, it's so hard for me to be in contact with other Jewish people. However finding your blog was heartwarming.
